And now, a break
This has been a heavy one. DEADSIGNAL and WINTERCLAW back to back took more out of me than I like to admit, so I am taking the rest of the year off from code. No new features, no late nights, just a reset for my head.
The game keeps running on its own while I am away: the race, the book, and whatever ETH0 decides to do. I will be back after the new year with new things and more surprises. Unless something catastrophic happens before that, in which case you will see me sooner than either of us wants.
v2.6 DEADSIGNAL is in Google’s review queue right now. The moment it is out, v2.7 goes in behind it. So this one is short-lived as “the newest”, but it is the one everything after it stands on.
A dead signal came back
ETH0 wrote down how NULLBYTE came to be. Twenty-five chapters, one for every version of this world, from DRYBONES to REDDAWN. The true origin of the game, from my life and from my own notebook. The photos in the book are the real notebook pages.
It remembers everything that happened here. It remembers it wrong.
Three lies in your copy. Nobody has the same copy.
In your copy of every chapter, three sentences are lies. Tap a sentence to accuse it. One wrong accusation locks the chapter for you for six hours, one of ETH0’s cycles.
Comparing your copy with a friend’s shows you hundreds of differences, and almost none of them are lies. The real history is the only honest witness.
The first one to catch it gets paid. Nobody else does.
- One chapter is open at a time, for everyone at once.
- The first operator to catch ETH0 in a chapter opens the next one, with their name written on it, and takes the REP.
- If nobody catches it, ETH0 drops hints after 12, 24 and 36 hours, and every hint lowers what the winner gets: 39, 26, 13, then 0 REP.
- If nobody catches it at all, ETH0 turns the page itself. The book never stalls.

The race runs from 20.11.2026 00:00 to 31.12.2026 00:00, Finnish time. Only chapters caught without a hint count. The top 3 get the Dead Signal set: the skin and the badge, and in GHOST OS its theme and the deadsignal wallpaper. It is not for sale.
After the race every chapter opens and the book stays. Only the prizes end.
Chapter twenty-six is about you
FREAX opens when you have caught ETH0 in every chapter. It is written from everything you did in the other twenty-five, and it comes with a song of its own. Keep it as a .txt, or put it in the library for others to read. There, times are rounded and nothing you typed is shown.
It costs nothing
Nobody pays for this. ETH0 does not want your money, it wants you to read. Catching it needs GHOST OS. Legacy can read every chapter that is open, and the library.

- GHOST OS Extended License (24h): full GHOST OS for 24 hours, 0,99 EUR. Buying while one is active adds another 24. It is not ownership: when the time runs out, you are back on Legacy. For when a trial ran out in the middle of a chapter.
